Chinese New Year...

...is in February. For the last several years, we've been invited to a Chinese New Year family feast with the Li family. This year was even more special with Olivia here.

Here is our family with Grandma Cleo (Troy's mom)
Here is our family with Troy's cousin Peggy Li and her husband Jasper (LiWei), their two boys Nathan and Joshua and Jasper's parents Li Yanshan & Sun Shuxian. These cousins live in our metro area. They always put on such a wonderful feast for this holiday.

Peggy and Jasper were at the airport when Olivia arrived in the US back in August. They welcomed her in Chinese and explained that she was finally home. But this was our first time to introduce Olivia to Shuxian. Shuxian loved to fuss over Olivia. Here she is straightening out Olivia's special jacket. Olivia spent lots of time on her lap during our time with them. Shuxian spoke to her in Chinese along with many of the other guests. Olivia was so happy to taste some of the foods from her past. She told me which ones she remembered. They had a bowl of various Chinese candies that Olivia loved sampling! They don't use sugar like we do. Some of the candy was sesame flavored.

The following week we went to a community event sponsored by Families with Children from China (FCC). It was in a school building and had several fun things scheduled like a carnival with games and prizes,

face painting,

ribbon dancing, and so much more...
We had lots of fun tasting food, doing crafts, and finally it ended with a lion parade.
